OOXML on Hold – Blow for Microsoft

Posted by CreativeWolf on June 12, 2008

Here are few more updates on my article on India rejecting ooxml

ISO Puts Standard for Microsoft’s OOXML – News from Heise Online UK.

Here is news from Slashdot

schliz alerts us that ISO, in response to the four appeals (Venezuela, India, Brazil, South Africa) filed in recent weeks, has put the OOXML standardization process on hold. Here is ISO’s press release, which says that ISO/IEC DIS 29500 will not be published for at least “several months” while the appeals process goes forward.

Looks like all the developing nations are all set to blow up Mircosoft’s Monopoly atleast with respect to their OOXML getting standardized by ISO.

You are what you want to be!

Posted by CreativeWolf on May 25, 2008

Who decides what you need to be?

Tracking back right from the beginning, parental impact, so called relatives, society, community, state, country, educational system, friends and who & what not?

It is not about being a social hermit, it is about knowing what one needs and wishes to be and exhibiting efficacy in being so.

I was recently contemplating with someone inspiring, who thought I’m worth talking to about a situation and know what my thought is. Read the rest of this entry »

India Rejects Microsoft’s OXML

Posted by CreativeWolf on March 23, 2008

Here is news from on EFYTimes & Economic Times on India’s BIS Committee Rejecting Microsoft’s OXML.

Now thats a good move against  monopoly & treacherous computing  by Microsoft and alike.

Please refer Richard Stallman’s  essay in Free Software, Free Society: Selected Essays of Richard M. Stallman

Though there has been some amount of support that has been given by some of the Indian IT Giants, overall Microsoft had to take a slap on its face with this rejection that they were dreaming to be successful.

This rejection has lead to India voting against Microsoft’s OXML being  adopted as a standard by ISO.

I’m going to try and understand the stand of other countries that are members of the ISO in this issue.

Disgrace

Posted by CreativeWolf on March 17, 2008

Its sheer disgrace, at least in a country which boasts to believe in “Aditi Devo Bhava” ( Guests are supposed to be treated in par with gods) to have situations that crop up every now and then about tourists getting molested and abused.

It was Mumbai some NRI, then a British tourist in Goa, now  a German tourist in Goa again.

It certainly doesn’t give a good picture about Goa not for me at least.

Whom to blame it on and who is to bell the cat?

Crackberry the Blackberry

Posted by CreativeWolf on March 16, 2008

Oh boy, now whats the world coming to – Intercepting emails that are pushed via Blackberry, whats the plan about the rest of the world that pulls email?

Its been told that the whole sensational issue was brought out to limelight when the TaTa Teleservices were denied permission by the home affairs ministry to launch push email services owing to “security concerns”, where as there are other operators playing the game.

Now, how political that could be, only they might know who really knows.

Besides, whats the whole idea? Why not ban cellular services, GSM, CDMA, GPRS, EDGE, Internet et al. Read the rest of this entry »
