Smoke Zones – Banished?

Posted by CreativeWolf on March 24, 2008

I’m wondering what is going to happen to smoke zones in offices – With the new amendment of law against smoking in public to be made effective May 2008.

Refer Times Of India’s Article for more statistics.

It is going to be pretty interesting…as I remember how some of the smoking co-workers were disheartened when several of the smoke zones were banned & reduced to few in my office facility. They literally lived it and it was a little too much of a nosy act, well they had no choice thats a different story altogether.

Now with this new act coming into picture, its going to be tough for the amount of people who smoke and who sell smoke.

Its very idealistic to see all of them not smoking and being more productive *grin* – Those small smoke breaks would for sure be gone.

But ask a smoker why they smoke, to keep them energized, to keep them away from dozing off, few have accepted they just do it for the heck of it, and very few accept that they are unable to quit and part of the very few say that they want to quit.

For once Union Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, after toying with a lot of celebrity’s sentiments seem to have pondered upon something really creative even though it has his own self advertising stunts – This is really appreciated.

But what is going to be the alternative if the employees demand for a way to smoke it out?

Here are two creative ideas, if they are worth revisiting or just to read and laugh it off.

1. Have smokinals ( Just like urinals ) built, which allows one smoker at a time to go smoke?

2. Have an isolated smoking zone which has special extinguishing technology and strictly smokers allowed inside, with access control system in place and non-smokers trying to tail gate when caught be fined *evil wicked grin*

Now thats my two cents for the situation – anyone got any more to add – please feel free.

get them to stop smoking at work ? give free nicotine patches to people, get them to smoke shisha/hubbly, either one will do :) I have quite like that before (the hubbly way) and it works :)

HE IS JUST ANOTHER “FORTUNATE POLITICIAN” AND UNFORTUNATELY A HEALTH MINISTER WHO CAME TO POWER JUST BECAUSE THE BJP COULD NOT.
WHY DOSENT HE JUST BAN CULTIVATION OF TOBACCO ? IT WILL SLOVE ALL THE PROBLEMS FOR THE TOBACCO CONSUMER AS THE MINISTER WILL IMMEDIATELY LOOSE HIS JOB ( TAKE IT AS A CHALLANGE ). I WOULD LIKE TO ADVISE MY DEAR FRIEND THE HEALTH MINISTER THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES BEFORE THE GOVERNMENT LIKE…..BECOMING SLAVES OF THE UNITED STATES….BRINGING IN INSPECTOR RAJ…..MAKING INDIA NO 1 IN THE CORRUPTION …….AND MAKING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE POLITICAL DYNASTY THAT HAS RULED THE COUNTRY FOR 40 YEARS. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR A PERSON WHO CONSUMES TOBACCO AND THE FINANCE MINISTRY WHICH RUNS ON REVENUES GENERATED FROM THE TOBACCO AND LIQUOR INDUSTRY.ALL THE BEST MINISTER
